MINI Turbo Aux Cooling Pump AFT

MINI Turbo Aux Cooling Pump 11-53-8-843-817 (Number 1 in the diagram photo).  This part came on all Gen #2 MINI Cooper S models to help cool the turbo after the car is off. The pump will run for 5 min after the car is off to help cool the turbo and all the internal parts for longevity and reliability.

As you can see by the below chart, MINI has made a lot of revisions to this part due to some cars that caught fire. MINI at one point instructed owners to not park them in a garage in case it did catch fire.  They replace many of them under warranty early on, but if you do not have a record of it being done, call any MINI dealer to make sure your car doesn't still need it done! Also, make sure you hear the pump working when you turn they car off. If it isn't, your turbo will be need replaced soon than later. This is a quality aftermarket pump that is they same as OEM, but at a price saving. We trust it enough to put it in our own cars!
