The alternator provides a steady charge to the vehicles battery while the engine is running. Your vehicles alternator is driven by the drive / serpentine belt. It is recommended to inspect or replace your engines drive / serpentine belt along with ensuring all accessory pulleys rotate freely any time you remove the belt for service.
